Lo Fi Fnk

Awww… Sho schweet. Dionne’s heart was all a-flutter this week as, yes folks, it’s Valentine’s Day. Hope you all got cards / roses / Blue Nun. Matt and Dionne played good Valentine / bad Valentine for you, Dionne bringing the love joints in the shapely shapes of Phyllis Dillon, The Drums, Lykki Li, Washed Out and Zambri, and Matt brought some curmudgeonly meal-for-one tunes, by the likes of Yacht, Hot Chip and Chapel Club.

Join the happy couple as they celebrate their (radio) union… xxoxoxoxxoxox

Radio Show: January 31st 2010 // Dum Dum Girls, These New Puritans, Plastic Bertrand, Tanlines, El Perro Del Mar, Shy Child and Teddy Pendergrass – RIP.

February 12, 2010

Dum Dum Girls

Here we are then – I guess this is what “up to date” feels like. This is the most recent show that Dionne and Matt did, and folks, it’s another corker (so long as you understand ‘corker’ to mean ‘litany of errors’).

Dionne will never let the opportunity to play some big-voiced R&B hit, and the very sad passing of the very brave Teddy Pendergrass meant that we could tick the topical box and play (what else) Love TKO. Elsewhere there’s new newness from Dum Dum Girls (that’s them above), the new Van Halen-baiting Goldfrapp single, a Prins Thomas remix of Ali Love, a track off the mental new These New Puritans, some Joanna Newsome, and some more Van Halen references in the shape of Brooklyn-ites Coasting.

Wrap yer ears around THIS:
(PS if you wonder each week why we post the show in 3 parts, its so that the load time stays low – for some reason a full length 2 hour show loads slower than tectonic plate shift – sorry!).

Radio Show CATCH UP: January 17th 2010 // Flying Solo with These New Puritans, Sebastian Tellier, Erlend and the Carnival, La Shark, Yeasayer and Naive New Beaters

February 1, 2010

La Shark

This is the first of several catch-up posts right here on The radio show is marching ahead of the website, so we are going to have a post-a-thon to redress the balance in favour of you lot, who come and visit us at home. Dionne succumbed to some kind of Scandinavian lurgy and was away this week, so Anna (Moulson, once-a-month TW host and Melting Vinyl proprietor) and Matt stood in, each taking the helm for an hour respectively.

Anna was naturally looking forward to the long weekend of French-themed gigs and events entitled Vive La France, and in that spirit played the super Naive New Beaters, our old pal Sebastian Tellier, Brighton-based, part-Gallic punk funkers Transformer plus… well Phoenix OBVIOUSLY.

Matt on the other hand found not just a theme, but presenting a show in any kind of coherent manner beyond his meagre abilities, and only just managed to cobble an hour of music together. In the mix there you’ll find South London eccentrics La Shark, the wonderfully confrontational These New Puritans, plus Maryland’s disco greats the Beautiful Swimmers and a whole host of others.

Here’s what went out on air, and below, a list of what was played:
