Best known as one half of Britain’s much loved rock pop combo Supergrass, ex Brighton resident Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey make up The Hot Rats –and they’re playing a Leeds/Reading warm up at Brighton Coalition this Thursday from 7pm.
They’re joined by Brighton’s own upbeat-darkside indie heroes Gloria Cycles, plus a DJ set from The Flying Goffey Brothers, recently described as “psychedelic space cadets with a fondness for Thundercats and aural hallucinations.”
Fond Cheetara memories.

With Independent’s Day upon us we’re feeling particularly excited about the week-long celebrations at the ICA. The idea is that a selection of indie labels curate a night for us to enjoy. Nice to see local label Fat Cat are representing as well as ex totallywired presenter, Marcus O’Dair in there with Grasscut (who i urge you to check out if you haven’t already). Just noticed he has a gig with Acoustic Ladyland and The Invisible 9th July at Cargo which sounds meaty in itself. But they’ll be down in Brighton for LOOP this weekend. Back to the point of this post- Independent’s Day gigs – we’re sure they’re going to be adequately brilliant. tickets via Live Nation. See you there! (See listings below)
